The Australian Health Promotion Association is the professional association specifically for people involved in the practice, research and study of health promotion.

Getting Real
The Getting Real Association, incorporated in NSW Australia, was established in 1997 to develop resources on youth issues affecting many Australians. Among the campaigns supported by the Association are those on suicide and sexuality, intolerance and community development. As with all our projects we are always on the lookout for potential sponsors.

Australian e-Journal for the Advancement of Mental Health
The new peer reviewed Australian e-Journal for the Advancement of Mental Health (AeJAMH) is now online.
This electronic journal is a publication of the Australian Network for the Promotion, Prevention and Early Intervention for Mental Health (Auseinet). AeJAMH is a free full text journal and will be published 4 times a year. Subscribe via the e-Journal web site.

Youth Research Centre
The Youth Research Centre is located in the Department of Educational Policy and Management, Faculty of Education at The University Of Melbourne. It was established in 1988 in response to a recognised need by the youth affairs sector for relevant and up to date research on the issues facing young people today. As part of a university, the Youth Research Centre draws on the research skills, knowledge and experience of senior academic staff.

Griffith University: AISRAP—Australian Institute For Suicide Research and Prevention
AISRAP promotes and conducts research in all aspects of suicide prevention. It is active in suicide prevention strategy development. In addition, it provides education and training for professionals and volunteers. It also serves as a national clearinghouse for information on suicide.

Mindmatters
Mind Matters is a national mental health promotion program developed for secondary schools. The website contains the resource materials and provides information and support regarding dissemination of the program.

This section of the NSW Government Health site connects to important information concerning the youth of Australia. NSW Health is an important part of the NSW community and a major responsibility of the NSW Government. Around 100,000 people work in or directly with NSW Health. The website is the Mental Health and Special Programs Branch. The site contains mental health information for consumers, carers and families, educational purposes and for the media, and for the health sector. The site also has crisis and support contacts, publications and resources and special access programs. The special access programs include Palliative care, torture and trauma, homeless youth and stoma appliances.

National Health and Medical Research Council
National Health and Medical Research Council: Publications Catalogue
The National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) consolidates within a single national organisation the often independent functions of research funding and development of advice. One of its strengths is that it brings together and draws upon the resources of all components of the health system, including governments, medical practitioners, nurses and allied health professionals, researchers, teaching and research institutions, public and private program managers, service administrators, community health organisations, social health researchers and consumers. The functions of the NHMRC come from the statutory obligations conferred by the National Health and Medical Research Council Act 1992.

The School Focused Youth Service (SFYS) is a statewide initiative of the Department of Education, Employment and Training and the Department of Human Services Victoria. It works with education, health and welfare sectors to enhance the physical, mental and social-emotional wellbeing of children and adolescents at primary and secondary levels of Government, Catholic and Independent schools.

It works with education, health and welfare sectors to enhance the physical, mental and social-emotional wellbeing of children and adolescents at primary and secondary levels of Government, Catholic and Independent schools.

infoXchange: youth
infoXchange is a Directory of Community Support Services-The Service Seeker We manage the most extensive, up-to-date human support services directory available in Victoria. The database contains information on over 22,000 services provided by over 10,000 agencies. This information is checked for currency at least every six months, primarily through direct contact with the service. The electronic directory, which is fully functional both on the Internet and 'standalone'¹ PC, has extensive search capabilities. It can be searched by a range of fields including by name, or characteristics of the service, or by the name of the providing agency, or by location including postcode, suburb, local government area or Department of Human Services Region. The database is managed through a rigorous updating schedule. This has included the development of an extensive style manual and a purpose built thesaurus, which enable a unique key word search facility. The updating of the database is carried out in a collaborative process with a range of agencies involved in community information provision. The maintenance and updating of community information is very labour intensive and collaboration will reduce the duplication and ensure the accuracy and extensiveness of the database.

Child and Youth Health
Child and Youth Health is an independent State Government health unit, funded primarily by the Department of Human Services. It also receives funding from other sources including: The Dept of Education Training and Employment Family and Youth Services Dept of Family and Community Services, Canberra Intellectual Disability Services Council Frank and Hilda Perry Trust City of Onkaparinga Women’s and Children’s Hospital. Child and Youth Health has been supporting parents and children of South Australia since 1909.

Suicide Prevention Communications Project
As part of Australia’s National Youth Suicide Prevention Strategy, the Commonwealth Department of Health and Aged Care engaged the Australian Institute of Family Studies to help those working to prevent suicide by providing:

1. A knowledge base from which to inform policy, practice and research.
2. Communications activities Networking services.
3. Valuing Young Lives: Evaluation of the National Youth Suicide Prevention Strategy

Makeanoise
The Greater Murray Area Health Service have implemented a youth suicide prevention strategy through a community development approach. The initiative has developed a large youth health website.

SANE Australia is a national charity helping people seriously affected by mental illness through research, education and campaigning. The site includes links, helpline, fact sheets, and research reports.

VicHealth
VicHealth is a Victorian Health Promotion Foundation which is committed to raising the profile of mental health promotion and establishing a role for mental health promotion on the public agenda. It is currently implementing its Mental Health Plan through advocacy, networking, education, social marketing and the funding of innovative programs / projects. The Youthmentalhealth website was initially funded through VicHealth. The VicHealth website provides information about the range of VicHealth initiatives.

Beyond Blue
Beyond Blue is a National Depression Initiative offered in response to concerns about the high and growing incidence of depression in our community. The website provides information about the organisation and its activities. It also provides information about depression and resources relevant to depression.
